Experimental A/V

This page is dedicated to my non-commercial projects and music interests. My approach to media production is hands-on experimentation: learn as you go, play by your own rules.

Motion graphics and video editing are really just professional terms for what is (or at least was at one time) innovative and playful creativity. It is not my intention here to create high-gloss, high-tech visuals to compete in today's global markets, but rather to engage our media in a way that juxtaposes itself against itself and questions its role in our lives.

What happens when you composite different media onto itself, distorting the time and shape of familiar objects into alien imagery? Can the uniqueness of time and space in art bring us back to a uniqueness of experience that has been lost in representation? These are the concepts I explore in my own work, both audio and visual.

Envy is Blind

For almost ten years, I was the lead vocalist, synthesizer programmer, and song writer for the industrial band Envy is Blind. Throughout that time, I wrote three albums, built my own recording studio, taught myself audio production, learned stage lighting, and created on-stage background videos. This experience in particular is what led me to my current pursuits in independent film.

Some of the music I have written can be heard using the music player on this page. I've also included a few of the videos created for this project below, including the music video for the song 'Iconoclast' and live performance footage.
