Project: Woke Up Alive (excerpt)
Type: Feature-length documentary film
Year: 2009
Description: This is a clip from the film Woke Up Alive during which co-director Mark Blacknell encounters a Prisoner's Day rally in Majdal Shams, a disputed area of land between Israel and Syria. The provocative conversation that follows shows the stark contrast of views held by residents of the country and was used to dramatically juxtapose more peaceful sentiments shared by other interviewees earlier in the film. This conversation was cut down to approximately five minutes from an original length of about twenty minutes.

Project: Promotional video for Expedia, Inc. (excerpt)
Type: Commercial
Year: 2009
Description: This is a clip from a promotional video for Expedia, Inc. that was contracted through Inventive Productions, LLC. I was hired to edit together a 2-3 minute short utilizing footage from an interview with CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. The B-roll for this came from footage gathered when Expedia, Inc. was nominated for Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in Bellevue, WA. The finished version was scripted by myself and repurposed so that Expedia, Inc. could use it on its own.

Project: Woke Up Alive (excerpt)
Type: Feature-length documentary film
Year: 2009
Description: This is a clip from the film Woke Up Alive during which Mark speaks with an Arab family about violence and conflict in Israel. The conversation is a fascinating glimpse into moderate and open-minded views in a part of the world that is chiefly known for fundamentalism and prejudice.

Project: Woke Up Alive (excerpt)
Type: Feature-length documentary film
Year: 2009
Description: This clip from the film Woke Up Alive features some of the most intense footage of the film, shot during the Second Lebanon War in Israel in 2006. The editing techniques in this clip make us of the fast-paced and confusing environment, and also demonstrate some of the split-screen visuals that I used extensively in the film.

Project: Iconoclast by Envy is Blind
Type: Music Video
Year: 2006
Description: This is a music video that I made for my music project Envy is Blind. I directed, edited, and starred in this video, which was filmed using an infrared camera. The result is a gritty and edgy short film that fits the industrial soundtrack quite well. I am often asked what the razor blade represents in this video- to me, the subject matter of the song is about choosing life over death. In order to represent that choice, I gave the character (myself) a razor blade as a prop to represent the decision to turn away from death and towards life (the light entering the room at the end of the film).
